世間は新型コロナウイルスの影響でテレワークを実施している企業もあると聞きます。要は在宅勤務ですね。インターネットのニュースでは在宅勤務で逆に『孤立化』が進行しているケースもあるとか。あるいは自宅待機（休日とは違い自宅に居るという勤務状態）を命じられ、いつ会社から連絡が入ってもいいように自宅に居なければならず、それが却ってストレスに感じる職種の人もいるようです。

いずれにしても、慣れないことを強いられているので無理もありません。新型コロナウイルスの影響はメンタルのバランスにも及んでいるようです。

在宅勤務だからといって、企業は安心することは禁物です。在宅勤務だからこそ、新型コロナウイルスの感染リスクは避けられるとしても、上記のような慣れないことでメンタルのバランスを崩す従業員が出るとも限りません。

例えばインターネットのニュースにもあった

在宅勤務による『孤立化』

とはどういうことか？

いつもは毎朝出勤し、上司、同僚、部下、先輩、後輩、顧客などに囲まれて仕事をしています。周囲の人の進捗状況を見たり、コミュニケーションを取りながら仕事をしているわけです。言葉を交わさずとも、そばに人がいる、という職場そのものが孤立化しない環境に自動的になっています。

しかし在宅勤務は、周囲にそんな人はいません。それは何を意味するかというと、周囲の人の進捗状況はわかりにくく、言葉や表情など直接的なコミュニケーションもほぼ取れない状態に陥るということです。コミュニケーションとは言葉を交わすことだけではありません。相手の顔色や態度、表情など、言葉以外の情報を瞬時に整理することもコミュニケーションなのです。それを【ノンバーバルコミュニケーション】といいます。このノンバーバルコミュニケーションがほぼ取れない状態が在宅勤務です。

ノンバーバルコミュニケーションがほぼ取れない環境で考えられるリスクとして、周囲に迷惑をかけないようにしようと無理（あるいは無駄）に仕事をしてしまう、あるいは見えないプレッシャーに常に晒されるなどが考えられます。そういう人は一定数必ず出てくるでしょう。また子育てや介護、家事をしながら業務もしっかり遂行しなければいけないプレッシャーに強い焦りや苛立ちを感じる人も出てくるかもしれません。

仕事の場と生活の場が同じという環境での精神的両立は、かなりのストレスを要することは容易に想像できます。

こうしたことが複合的に絡み合い、やがてメンタルのバランスを崩してしまう人は確実に出てくるでしょう。

崩してしまうと、崩す前に戻すにはかなり時間を要し、場合によっては医療機関を受診する事態になります。そうなっては、従業員の社会復帰は相当難しくなります。

企業はこうしたリスクを考慮しなければなりません。

企業は従業員が完全にメンタルのバランスを崩してしまう前に、適切な対応をおこなう必要があります。

企業の適切な対応には、日頃から従業員のメンタルをしっかりとケアし、サポートする態勢を整えておくことがあります。それは従業員が身体疾患同様、精神疾患で医療機関にかからないように、例えば私たちのような医療機関や行政機関とも連携するメンタルの専門家である心理士を活用し、

予防的【砦】を確保すること

というものです。

産業医に相談することを推奨することも悪くありませんが、医療機関の受診へと進んでしまう恐れがあり、一見安心に思えても、それは予防ではなく疾患となり、通院する負担や処方薬を手放せなくなるなど、従業員のクオリティ・オブ・ライフに何らかの影響を及ぼします。

在宅勤務は皮肉にも今回の新型コロナウイルスが契機となって、これから新たな働き方として広く普及・定着するかもしれません。そうなれば、顔を合わせないリスクの対策として、コミュニケーションをどう円滑化するか、メンタルのバランスをいかに保つか、保たせるか、がこれからの企業の人事課題、労務課題になってくるのではないでしょうか。今からでも決して遅くはありません。
