coffee break：角に【足の小指をぶつける】という現象について

前々回から＜ＡＤＨＤの課題【時間管理】について＞と題して書いてきましたが、今回は息抜きを兼ねて、誰もが日常的に経験する、いろいろな角に

なぜか足の小指をぶつけるという現象

を、ぶつけられた小指の立場で考えたり、なぜか生まれる小指の持ち主である自分のやり場のない怒りという感情を勝手に考察していきたいと思います（笑）。なお、何のエビデンスもなく、極めて私的なくだらないことを先をお断りしておきます。

生きていれば誰もが一度以上は経験する“角に足の小指をぶつける”という現象について、インターネットではさまざまな意見が散見されます。

  • 身体の末端に位置するため、その存在を忘れやすくぶつけやすい。
  • 神から人間に与えられた乗り越えねばならない一つの試練。
  • 水や空気のように重要でも、その存在は無意識の外側に追いやられやすい存在（足の小指）を、わざわざ意識させることで、生命の根源、生きる意味を哲学的に問うため。

など、いろいろな分野のいろいろな人たちが持論を展開しています。

まず、“なぜ、足の小指をぶつけやすいのか”を私なりに考察してみます。

そもそも、小指に限らずぶつけようとして（ぶつけたくて）ぶつける人はいないはずなので、うっかりぶつけやすい場所に、わざわざぶつけやすい形状で存在している。

同じ足の端に存在しており小指よりはるかに大きいのに、親指をぶつけてその痛みからやり場のない怒りで八つ当たり・・・というのは聞きません。それは小指が足の一番外側に存在しているから、という単純な問題ではないように思うのです。

神は、ある種の怒りスイッチを足の小指の外側に作ったのではないか？と。無差別に八つ当たりしたくなるほど（もちろんしませんが）の、あの理不尽なレベルの痛みと沸き上がる怒りは、うっかりぶつけただけにしては分に合わないように思いませんか？

痛み（怒り）＞＞＞＞＞＞＞＞ぶつけた衝撃、に思えてなりません。

なので、小指の外側にはある種の普段意識することのない怒りの感情スイッチがあるのでは？と考えました。小指の持ち主も思わず七転八倒、頭の周りをヒヨコがピヨピヨ回ってしまうぐらいの痛みに襲われますが、小指本人（？）はもっと腹立たしいと思うのです。

親指のように主張せず、場所こそ外側とはいえ、ひっそり引っ込み気味に小さく存在しているだけなのに、なぜかうっかりぶつけられやすい位置に存在する小指。小指の立場になって考えると、腹も立つでしょう。

親指にさえ生まれていれば、ただそこに存在しているだけで、何の落ち度もないのにうっかり角にぶつけられなくても済むのですから。ぶつけられやすい位置にぶつけられやすい形状で存在している小指ですが、そこに“親指としてではなく小指”として存在している意味は何でしょうか。

小指はあくまで小指サイズでひっそり存在し、親指と同サイズの小指は存在しません。もしかすると、小指が親指サイズだと、うっかりぶつけた時に持ち主が受ける心身のダメージがあまりにも大きいと考え、ダメージを最小限に抑えるために、そのこじんまりしたサイズなのかもしれません。神様の配慮と言えるでしょう。

机の脚にぶつけた時に「・・・っった！！」と声にならない呻きと、机の脚が自分からぶつかってきたわけでもないのに、なぜか机の脚に腹が立つ私は、人としてまだまだだなぁ、と後から振り返り反省するばかりです。

考えれば考えるほど“勝手にぶつけたのは自分じゃん”なのに、ぶつけた対象物に腹が立つのが不思議です。人が相手ならばまだ説明がつきますが、無機物ですよ？ついでに記憶が吹っ飛びそうになるあの痛みも・・・。

くだらないことを真面目に一生懸命考える無駄時間が心の潤いである私は、人生の研究テーマが二つになりました。

オオケマイマイ（毛の生えたカタツムリ）に毛がある意味と、その発毛メカニズムを解明し、世の悩める薄毛の方々の役に立てないか？

足の小指をぶつけた際の当たり散らしたくなる（悪いのは自分なのに）痛みの意味と、なぜ小指が人体のあの位置にあの形状で存在するのか？
