この４月に晴れて社会人になった皆さん、如何お過ごしですか？

研修中の人、研修も終わりそれぞれの部署に配属された人などさまざまだと思います。社会人になる前（私も含め）、つまり小中高大においての人間関係は極めて年齢の近い人だけの関係だったと思います。

会社という組織に入ると、最初こそ同期（同年代）と一緒に研修を受け、学校時代の延長のような気分だったのではないでしょうか。それが各部署にそれぞれ配属されると、環境は一変します。同期はほぼおらず、先輩、上司しかいません。年齢もさまざまです。ほぼ自分よりも年上ばかりの環境と言っていいでしょう。

そんな環境で緊張と不安が入り混じった状態の新入社員の人もいると思います。その中で皆が皆、優しい先輩とは限りません。業務に忙しそうにしている先輩に遠慮してみたり、言うことが変わったり、単純に取っ付きにくかったり、といろいろな要素が絡み合って、新人にとっては緊張の連続でそれだけでグッタリしている時期だろうと察します。

既に怒られた、という人もいるでしょう。萎縮してしまい出社が怖くなったりする時期でもあります。私もそういう時期がありました。昼休みに一人になれる時間にホッとしたり、緊張と不安を誤魔化しながら必死に頑張っていると思います。会社から帰宅して部屋着になって座った時、どれだけホッとしたことか、あの頃の自分を思い出します。

『そんな不安や緊張なんかないよ』という人はラッキーだと思います。たまたまあなたにとって恵まれた職場環境なのでしょう。新入社員をよく観察していると、４月当初は大体希望に満ちた笑顔が多いのですが、研修が終わり部署に配属されてくると、当初の笑顔は消えています。ちょっと疲れた顔をしています。覚えることも多くわからないことばかりなため、不安げにも見えます。入社３年程度の社員の顔は、会社や業務にも慣れ、力の抜きどころの要領も覚え、ある程度余裕のある顔付きになっています。社内の人間関係の構築もある程度できているのも大きいと思います。彼らはいわゆる学生気分が完全に抜け、社会人の顔付きといった感じでしょうか。

ブラック企業でないことが大前提ですが、私も当時、入社から３年目まではかなりメンタルが不安定な時期でした。この仕事は自分に向いていないんじゃないか、辞めたい、日曜日や連休最後の日が憂鬱だな、これでいいのか、など自問自答の日々だった記憶があります。そんな思いが入れ替わり立ち替わり巡っていました。その時出した結論は、

『とりあえず明日だけ頑張ろう』

というものでした。そうやって『とりあえず明日だけ』、その日が終わればまた『とりあえず明日だけ』という感じです。こんな生活がずっと続くのかと思ったら潰れそうな気がしたので、苦肉の策として『とりあえず明日だけ』は頑張ろう、明後日のことは今考えず明日また考えよう、という感じでした。つまりは騙し騙しですね（笑）

『とりあえず明日だけ頑張ろう』というのは今でも使っています。社会人になって長いですが、いいことばかりはなくツラいこともありますから、そういう時の気持ちの持ちようの一つとして、『とりあえず明日だけ頑張ろう』と思うようにしています。自分で自分から逃げたと後ろめたい気持ちに縛られないためでもあります。

置かれた環境によって感じることは人それぞれ違うと思いますが、今言えることは、一時的なネガティブな感情に惑わされ、流されてはダメだ、ということです。ネガティブな感情になることがダメ、と言っているわけではなく、その感情とどう向き合うかということです。

弊社の心理士である本城ハルに教わったことですが、人に言えるような大したことでなくていいから、寝る前などリラックスしている時に、３つ程度『今日の自分を自分で褒めてやる』というものです。どういうことかというと、今日も遅刻せずに出社した、昨日教わったことが忘れずにできた、など些細なことでも構わないから自分で自分を褒めるということです。私は最近『今日請求書を出した』『今日洗濯した』『缶コーヒー飲むのを我慢した』自分を褒めました（笑）誰にも言う必要がないのだから、どんな小さなことでも、人には当たり前と思われることでもいいのです。こうしたことを毎日繰り返していると自己肯定感が下がりにくくなると言われています。

ネガティブな感情は生きている以上、いつでも抱く感情ですから、そういう感情を否定していてはメンタルが疲れてしまいます。ネガティブ感情を受け入れ、それとどう向き合うか、それが自分の人生を大切にすることに繋がるのかな、と思います。
