よく言えば『おっちょこちょい』『天然』『好奇心旺盛』でムードメーカー。悪く言えば『時間や約束を守れなくてルーズ』『片付けられなくてだらしない』『面倒くさがりで怠惰』と周りから困り感がわかりやすいＡＤＨＤ。

よく言えば『ミステリアスでマイペース』『自分に正直』。悪く言えば『空気を読めない』『共感がなく直球過ぎる物言いが人を傷付けたり不愉快にさせる』『字面どおり受け取り冗談が通じなくて面倒くさい』『マイルールがあり、理解不能なこだわりがある』というＡＳＤでは、同じ発達障害でもひと言では括れません。

本人はもちろんですが、周りの戸惑いや困り感の“種類”がまったく違うので、

何より大切なのは確定診断ではなく、【自分の脳のクセを知る】ことです。

本人が脳のクセを知り理解することは、どのような困り感がどんな場面で表れるのかがわかり、工夫対処しやすくなると同時に周りの人たちに協力や配慮をお願いしやすくなります。

発達障害は“ＡＳD”だけ、“ＡＤＨＤ”だけ、のような単体は実は極めて少なく、ＬＤや協調運動障害を持ち合わせていたり、ＡＤＨＤにＡＳDが加わって重複しているケースがほとんどです。

そして忘れてならないのが、強く表れている特性もあれば“風味”程度にしか表れない特性もあるということです（だからといって“特性がない”わけではありません）。同じ診断名でもグレーでも人の数だけ多様な表れ方をするのが発達障害です。

本コラムでも何度かお話しているように、表面だけを見て“片付けなくて散らかっている”でも、ＡＤＨＤからくる特性かＡＳDからくる特性かでは、その理由も対策も変わってきます。

要領が悪く並外れて不器用、究極に面倒くさがりで生きていくのが大変そうな息子を見ていると、興味関心がある物事以外はどれほど自分にとって重要であっても、取り掛かるハードル自体がとても高いように見えます。

その一端を紹介すると、使った食器を洗うために茶碗、お椀、グラス、最後に皿と箸と食べ終わる度にキッチンを忙しなく何度も行き来して運びます。いつも大きなトレイに載せて食べているので（いろんなものをひっくり返すので被害を最小限に止める目的と対策）、食べ終わったらすべての食器をトレイごと下げれば合理的で一度で済むのですが・・・。

行動すべてが雑で不注意が服を着て歩いているような息子は、動く度に躓く、何かを引っ掛けて落とす、ひっくり返すことが日常です。気の進まない、やりたくないこと、やっている何かを途中で中断しなくてはいけないこと、楽しくないことは本人にメリットデメリット関係なく、漏れなく『面倒くさい』に分類されます。それでもその面倒をやるうちに、今度はそれまでやっていた作業や、やらなくてはいけない作業を忘れてしまいます（読みかけの本をしまう、畳んだ洗濯物を片付けるなど）。

日々やることをルーチン化しよとしても、それが本人にとってどうでもいいことだったり面倒さを伴い、気が進まないことだと定着しません。その典型的な例が薬の服用です。もう小学生からずっと服用しているので、習慣になっていてもおかしくないのですが、未だに定着していません。なので、服薬管理は今でも１００％私がしています。服薬させるためにいろいろと試行錯誤した結果、今は朝の小皿と夕方の小皿を用意し、服用する薬を１日分ずつ出しておくこと、でした。にもかかわらず、毎回数度の声かけと「間違わずに飲んでね」は必須です。

１日にしている数え切れない声かけを減らし、自分で気付いてできることを増やしていかなくてはいつまでも他者頼みのままです。しかし、服薬管理だけは飲み忘れから副作用が出やすく体調悪化に繋がるのと「できないんだからお母さんがやってあげるしかないでしょ？」という主治医の言葉で“仕方なく渋々”やっている状態です・・・。

大人になるまでに、どれくらいできることが増えるでしょうか・・・。

言わなくては定着しない、繋がらない。言い続けても定着するかどうかわからない。

要するに“当たるかもしれない宝くじ”みたいなものですね。常に脳の活性化ができてボケなくて済みそうです（笑）
